Prince (Born: June 7, 1958 – Died: April 21, 2016) was born in Minneapolis on June 7, 1958. His debut album, “For You,” enjoyed moderate success in 1978. His sophomore release, titled “Prince,” went platinum thanks in large part to the popularity of singles “Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?” and “I Wanna Be Your Lover.” Releasing a total of 38 albums across his professional career, Prince sold over 100 million records worldwide. He won seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. That Academy Award was for best original score for the 1984 motion picture “Purple Rain,” soundtracked by Prince’s album by the same name. That year, Prince simultaneously had the number-one album, single and film in the United States, making him the first singer to achieve this feat.
Prince Rogers Nelson, known by his given name Prince, was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and actor.
